A.S.M.E. FABRICATION AND CERTIFICATION…WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

All fifty states insist that any installed pressure vessels be certified by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (A.S.M.E.). The paragraphs that follow explain the significance of this certification:

There are many different types of certifications that companies can obtain today. Those companies are not forced to follow a specific approach to manufacturing or business operations. A.S.M.E. certification is different from others in that, it focuses on the manufacture of high pressure components. It requires that all A.S.M.E. approved company's follow a stringent and traceable line of all components and manufacturing before a vessel can be approved and placed into use.

Features:

  • Complete trace-ability of raw materials,
  • All design must meet A.S.M.E. code,
  • Only certified manufacturers can build the vessels,
  • All pressure vessel tests must be witnessed by an A.S.M.E. third party.

Benefits:

  • Unsurpassed quality assurance,
  • Quality Manager and an Authorized Inspector actually travel with each project through all phases of the work,
  • Final inspection where units are hydrostatically tested at 1.5 times the working pressure,
  • A Manufacturer's Data Report is completed for each pressure vessel and filed with the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors in Columbus, Ohio.

Steel & Alloy Utility Products, Inc. recently obtained the A.S.M.E. "U" Stamp covering Section VIII, Division I fabrication of pressure vessels. We also hold the National Board "R" Stamp covering the repair of pressure vessels.
